One Month in Chile Already!

(Eighth grade in La Villa and one of the fourth grade classes in El Palqui!)

We are adjusting into our role here in El Palqui and La Villa. It has been a challenging few weeks, but we have learned a lot as we trust in God to give us courage in relationships and to reveal to us His plan for our time here. In both of the schools we have figured out a plan for how we can best assist the English professors. In the beginning it was hard to see what God was thinking sending us here, but we have started to develop some sweet relationships, even with the little Spanish we know (but we are learning!). We pray that in these relationships we will have courage to speak of Christ and his love, even when we think we don't have the words to explain.

This Friday is Chile's Independence Day, so we get to have a long weekend. It has been fun to see all the Chilean flags waving, hear the national song, and watch the national dance, the cueca. I hope we get to participate in some Chilean festivities, so hopefully there will be pictures to come!

 

And for fun, an ice cream picture! Michelle and I had ice cream this past weekend with Jenny, one of the other girls that is teaching English in another small town in Northern Chile.

Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord. I will say it again, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

These verses have been close to me these last two weeks. May they encourage you as well.
